What is Girls Rock Camp Austin?
Girls Rock Camp Austin is a summer day camp that offers musical instruction as well as a variety of workshops and performances in a positive, all-female environment intended to give girls the tools to succeed in music-related ventures, as well as in other fields of their choosing. The camp creates leadership opportunities, cultivates a supportive community of peers and mentors and encourages social change and the development of life skills.
Campers learn to play instruments of their choosing (guitars, drums, bass, keyboards, or vocals), form bands, write songs and perform live at a showcase at the end of the camp. They also attend workshops on women who rock, self-defense, images of girls and women in popular culture, the music business, rock writing and zine-making and more.

Summer 2008 Camp – General Information
We still have spaces available. Campers interested in playing the drums and bass guitar are encouraged to apply.
Session 1: July 7-11, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Showcase on July 12th at noon
Session 2: July 21-25, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Showcase on July 26th at noon

The Inaugural 2007 Girls Rock Camp Austin
Last year's inaugural camp was a huge success! The camp served 26 girls, and artists who worked with the girls included Sara Hickman, Dixie Chicks songwriter Susan Gibson, Rosie Flores, and Go-Go's bassist Kathy Valentine.
